Lake Loramie State Park Fall Festival and Camp-out

September 14th-16th 2012

The annual Fall Festival and camp-out will be September 14th -16th at the Lake Loramie State Park Campground. The weekend, which is co-sponsored by the Lake Loramie Improvement Association, begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday the 14th and concludes on Sunday the 16th at 5:00 p.m.

The Festival features an Antique Power Show. Many gas powered tractors will be on display. Other equipment such as a lumber mill, wheat thresher, shingle mill and various engines will also be on display and operating through out the weekend.

Kids' games and activities are scheduled for Saturday afternoon with Lake Loramie's Naturalist.

Over 60 art and craft exhibitors will be at the festival making items from toys to household decorations, flower arrangements and much more.

A Farmers Market will be held on Saturday, September 15th.

Food is available from several local organizations along with various live entertainments all weekend.

A large feature of the festival is the mountain men encampment. They will be dressed in the Early American Settler period to display how day to day life was during that era in history. They will also have demonstrations on the tools and equipment that was used to survive in the frontier.

2010 Fall Festival results

The 2010 Fall Harvest festival was a great success and record crowds were observed in the campground. The great weather in combination with a wide variety of events made the weekend special. The 29th annual Festival had something for all ages. Visitors enjoyed over 60 Arts and Crafts vendors, and food provided by local civic groups included The Fort Loramie FFA, The Lake Loramie Improvement Association, The Crescent Players Theater Group, The St Michaels Youth Ministry, New Hope United Methodist Church, and the Fort Loramie Community Service Club. All groups reported excellent sales. Grilled pork loins, brats, barbeque chicken, hot dogs, burgers, pizza, chili, sausage, beef and noodles were on he menu.

The festival features an Antique Power Show where dozens of tractors and other machinery are operating and on display. The power show conducted several activities such as the tractor slow race where tractors square off to see how slow they can go without stopping. Other activities included a wheat threshing demonstration, a lumber mill cutting large logs into boards, and a shingle mill. It makes for an interesting atmosphere to hear the sounds of the old hit and miss engines chugging along. These old machines were used to power many types of equipment not only in the farm yard but in the home as well. One of the highlights of the Power show was the Saturday parade through the campground.

The mountainmen were here again this year. About 20 camps were set up and demonstrating the tools and other equipment used by early European settlers to this area. Dressed as they were back then it was another unique attraction at the fest.

Kids are a huge part of the weekend. Naturalist programs, toys and inflatable jumpy rides as well as the great food and music provided a lot to do not to mention the three wheeled bikes, canoes, trails and playgrounds at the park. Gospel Group The Seed Sowers were here and put on three puppet shows. A petting zoo was set up all weekend.

Musical entertainment was continueous. Headlining on Friday and Saturday nights were the bands Renegade and Free Rider respectively. Crowds for these shows were as big as any the festival has seen. Other performers included The High Country band , Kimberly Fox, K & K Friends, The Wannabies, and high school bands from Ft Loramie and Minster.

Weather can make or break an outdoor event and with the exception of a very isolated shower Saturday night, the weekend was perfect.

The festival is cosponsored by Lake Loramie State Park and The Lake Loramie Improvement Association.
