Lake Loramie State Park Catfish Derby

September 1, 2012

The Division of Wildlife and Lake Loramie State Park will be hosting a Catfish Derby on Saturday, September 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the beach parking lot on State Route 362. The Division of Wildlife will be stocking an enclosed channel with 750 catfish so the kids are almost guaranteed a fish to catch. The derby is free to the public and is open to kids ages 17 and under. Parents are welcome to come and help your little one bring in the big fish. Make sure anyone 16 and over have a current fishing license. If you don't have fishing equipment Lake Loramie and the Division of Wildlife will be there with poles and a limited supply of bait for everyone. Come and join us for a morning of fishing fun.

2010 Catfish Derby Results

Lake Loramie Catfish Derby was a huge success on Saturday, September 4th. Over 70 kids participated w/about 120 total including the parents. Special thanks to Division of Wildlife for stocking the netted channel with approximately 800 catfish. Naturalist Stephanie Moorman along with Lake Loramie Camper Host helped out by loaning out fishing poles, a limited supply of bait, and demonstrated how to clean and prepare fish after they are caught. Kids had lots of fun!!!!
